The Henry Big Boy is a...
The Henry Big Boy is a well made, 10 round, centerfire lever action resting rifle with brass receiver trim, blued octagonal barrel, and quality American walnut stock. TheHenry handles amazingly well right out of the box and the sights were zeroed out to 100 yds. While its 8.7 lbs is reminiscent of the Springfield m1903, the Henry is more compact (shorter 38" v. 43") so it didn't feel nearly as heavy or cumbersome, if that makes sense. In any case, the weight and solid construction significantly minimizes the kickback of 44 mag round. I was expecting a kick similar to a shotgun but was pleasantly surprised the recoil was more akin to a long barrel 5.56. You'll forget you're firing a 44mag until you see the dirt kick up behind the target (pretty cool). Definitely agree this is made for brush hunting, home defense and cowboy action shooting. Buds, as usual, was easy to work with too. So, if you ever wanted that old west lever rifle that stands out and is fun to shoot, the Henry Big Boy certainly is one of them. Who knew something this good could come from Bayonne NJ (though no one there, I'm sure, probably owns one)!
