A: In short it might work but is certainly not designed to and I would not try it. The neck diameter of 22LR and 22 Short are smaller than 22 WMR and you do not achieve a proper seal in the chamber. This can result in either nothing at all, a dip in accuracy, split cases, or parts breakage/safety hazard.

A: no The 22lr ,22l and 22 short use a slimmer case and will not work in a 22 mag gun. they will cause split cases and could cause gasses and debris to exit the rifle causing a safety issue

A: Jim, the rimfire receivers are not steel. All of the Henry rimfire receivers are made of a zinc alloy called Zamak. (Z-Zinc, A-Aluminum, MA-Magnesium, and K-Kopper) The "Golden Boy" is also the "Zamak" alloy, and they call the plating on it "Brasslite", it's not solid brass. Stay safe & have a great day!
