This is a beautiful...
This is a beautiful rifle. I was concerned about how the break open lever would work ( spongey, stiff, alot of free play, etc), but no worries with this. The action is smooth, it's balanced, the trigger is lighter than I thought it might be. The wood stock is outstanding, and the receiver is also. And, I love the iron sights, with the rear folding sight being adjustable for windage and elevation. I'm an older Marine who qualified rifle expert several times on an M-16A1 and A2 with adjustable iron sights, so this is right in my wheelhouse. This is my 2nd .308 (my first is a Ruger American with a scope. I'm not fan of scopes) but it is my favorite. Henry makes a great gun, and I'm glad I got it. If you're flipping a coin to decide whether to get it or not, let me save you the trouble. Get one, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful gun! I've been wanting a single shot hunting rifle for many years. I'm still amazed that it only costs $400. The high quality of the wood, engraving and the overall workmanship is awesome at this price point. This is my 3rd Henry and they're all excellent rifles. I mounted a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 on it and sighted it in at 200 yards w/Remington Core-Lokt 180 grain rounds. I'm hoping to improve on the 1.75" 4-shot groups with some different ammo. The only drawback to this rifle is that it's much smaller and lighter than I anticipated. But, that might turn into an advantage after a long day of hunting. This would be an ideal hunting rifle for a youngster. Thanks Henry!!
