I use mine for range...
I use mine for range shooting only, so far everything at 100 yards. I don't load my own and i can't afford premium ammo - I have to get the 3-fer-a-dollar stuff. My range forbids FMJ too. After testing nearly a dozen factory loads w these specs, I found that Frontier 55g spires, Fed American Eagle 50g JHP, Armscor 55g PSP and the higher priced Federal LE Tactical 55g SP all easily and very consistently make 5/8 - 7/8' cloverleafs at or touching the bull's eye. I use an Athlon scope at 14X and have just installed a bipod, as I'm about to graduate to 20o yrds soon. I have no doubts this gun's capacities are right now considerably higher than my own skills, and i like that - i won't be "out-growing" this one for a while.\r I've fired maybe 300 rds through it by now and have no complaints about performance or function. The action works great, there's almost no recoil, and the Hogue stock makes it easy for both hands to a full. solid grip. \r The one and only drawback I could site is simply a by-product of its great accuracy. This thing weighs a ton. In fact, because of the Hogue stock and it's heft, we call it my Howa Hog. I don't think I'd want to have to hike with this think anywhere. But it's a pure sweetie on at the bench.

Howa 1500 has to be...
Howa 1500 has to be one of the highest quality rifles for the least money anywhere. Very accurate with a sweet trigger right out of the box. Bud's website is awesome. Rifle arrived in Texas within 48 hours of online purchase on my iPhone. I would recommend Bud's to anyone.
