The LMT Defense CQB16 CQB MRP Defender is a modular AR-15 rifle built around LMT's Monolithic Rail Platform. Its one-piece aluminum upper receiver incorporates an integral quad rail and supports LMT's quick-change barrel system, allowing caliber or barrel changes without specialized tools. The rifle is chambered in 5.56 NATO and accepts .223 Remington ammunition. A 16-inch cold hammer forged, chrome-lined heavy contour barrel receives cryogenic treatment for durability, service life, and ease of cleaning. The direct-impingement action, adjustable collapsible stock, detachable sights, and STANAG 4694 compatible rail provide a practical configuration for defensive, duty, and training applications.

This is a top tier...
This is a top tier AR-15 with some unique features. I have been consistently getting three shot groups around 3/4 of an inch at 100yds, you can tell the barrel was made to shoot well with its profile. This is with the factory 16' barrel which can be swapped for their stainless steel, 5R match barrels of various length. Which would likely shoot even tighter groups, or at least even more consistent. The only drawback accuracy wise is the mil-spec trigger... they could stand to put a Geissele SSA in the rifle in my opinion. That being said, the monolithic upper works as expected and barrel changes are a breeze with the supplied torque wrench. My rifle is the SA model meaning it is factory DI, it has been 100% reliable with just under 1,000 rounds fired. Mostly a mix of xm193 and some various match loads from 69gr all the way up to Barnes 85gr just for fun. Only other thing to be aware of is that this rifle come with a semi-auto bolt carrier from the factory... don't ask me why. I think that is a huge miss on the part of LMT, perhaps they expect you to upgrade to their enhanced bolt and carrier. While LMT makes some of the highest quality components out there I don't want to but separate parts to complete the rifle. All things considered if you can score one of these for under $1700 I think you are getting a sweet deal.

This is an incredible...
This is an incredible rifle. The play between the receivers is almost non-existant. Even the collapsible stock is tight. It took a while for Bud's to get this to me (ordered 2/08 received 2/28) but I saved big time on the rifle with Buds. Everyon near me was charging full MSRP and then add tax! Other than the wait, I have to say I'm impressed. Both with Bud's and LMT.
