The Marlin Firearms Model 983 is a classic bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered in .22 WMR. It pairs a traditional Monte Carlo American black walnut stock with a blued steel barrel and bolt, delivering a practical hunting and target-shooting platform with familiar handling. Its 22-inch Micro-Groove rifled barrel features 20 grooves and a 1:16-inch twist rate, while the 12-round tubular magazine provides substantial onboard capacity. The rifle is equipped with an adjustable semi-Buckhorn folding rear sight and a ramp front sight with a brass bead and removable Wide-Scan hood. A thumb-operated manual safety, red cocking indicator, rubber buttpad, swivel studs, and grooved receiver complete the configuration.

the quality of this...
the quality of this rifle is excellent, and it shoots great! I put a scope on, and its like a nail gun at 100 yards, smooth action, accurate, and for the money its a rifle to teach youngsters how to shoot, the bolt action allows the student to slow down aim and pull the trigger, as opposed to the semi-auto rapid fire. 22mag. rounds are much more powerfull, around 1900ft per sec..
