This thing is tack...
This thing is tack driver. Under an inch with Lake City 55grain @ 100 yards. Who knows with better stuff. It's a bit porky with a full mag and scope but for me it's a bench gun. The fact that it will feed using any AR type magazine I have tried is a huge plus. As always Buds had the best price.

I have mixed views...
I have mixed views about the Mossberg MVP Patrol in 5.56 NATO for reasons that I will explain. I like the MVP and it's a good addition to my bolt action rifles. I think it's great that it uses AR mags. It's light weight and quick to come up on target. With a scope mounted on the picatinny rail, I didn't have any issues cycling the action. It was smooth enough and the trigger pull is also very light. Understand that I thoroughly cleaned the rifle right out of the box before heading to the range. Initially, all was going well and I was sighting in my scope. But after firing about 30 rounds at the range, I did run into a reliability issue with the trigger assembly and striker. When the trigger was pulled the striker would not release and the rifle would not fire. I re-cocked the bolt several times with the same result... no go. I packed up and headed home to field strip the rifle, thoroughly clean it again and test the striker. After spraying solvent into the trigger assembly and bolt and then adding lubricant, I exercised the bolt and trigger assembly a number of times. After some time the striker finally released. I can't say for sure what caused the problem and hopefully the malfunction will not repeat. But in the back of my mind is this reliability issue that will take several trips to the range to work through. I would like to rate the rifle with five stars but given the problem I experienced that just didn't seem appropriate. So, I've rated it four stars and would upgrade it in the future if there are no more repeat malfunctions. One last thing, Mossberg has to do something to improve the magazine release. It's short and sets in a recess forward of the magazine. It's hard to reach and does not easily release the magazine. A longer magazine release would be greatly appreciated.
