After careful thought...
After careful thought i decided to get a new truck beat around gun. I was torn between savage axis this one the final factor came to looks. Buds gun shop was top notch as usual. payment shipping can't beat it. i could not wait to send a few rounds down the barrel. after break in i shot some reloads for my cz 550 varmint 22-250 (awesome gun) and the spread looked like a shot gun was used. i went and looked up some loads and decided to conduct a ladder test. with a 1x14 twist i figured it would try a 52 gr eld and 50 gr vmax . while at home cleaning i noticed the action bolts where not tight at all. Possible reason for the shot gun pattern. i fixed that and cleaned her and got another day to test some hand loads. i would fire a group clean barrel let her cool and repeat. makes for a long day. With the 52 gr hornady eld. i shot a solid .670 group at 100 not to bad for the price. After the 52 gr bullets i switched to the 50 gr. hornady vmax the second shot group was the golden ticket. .470 shot group. under half moa with a gun less than 400 bones. i had a leupold vx2 3x9x40 on her. gun is awesome shooter would highly recommend to anyone looking for another rifle. I shot the rifle at a 400yd 10 inch target with 9/10 rounds hitting. next outing i tested it out on a jumbo male coyote at 300 yards. dropped him dead in his tracks. PROS- the 22 inch barrel is light and makes the gun really mobile. comes with bases already installed. stock is dipped and with the coated barrel and receiver makes it more appealing for predator hunters in my opinion. shoots awesome has adj. trigger i got mine to break at a clean 2.8 pounds. has some play but you can expect that. its 10 times better than an axis. gun is light weight and makes a day of walking and calling a little easier. CONS- shorter barrel= louder but i am half deaf. the mag seems a little sloppy while empty in the gun but loaded with 5 in it takes 90percent of that away. the safety does not keep the bolt from opening had it come open while walking and stung behind back. i am also a lefty so i carry it with the bolt at my back. bolt has some play but i could live with it. i am already looking for another reason to get one. i think my daughter needs on in 223 hopefully my wife has the same feelings.
