Product Overview
The Mossberg Patriot is a traditional bolt-action rifle chambered in .450 Bushmaster and configured with a walnut stock and Blue/Black metal finish. Its 20-inch barrel and three-round internal magazine provide a practical setup for hunting and field use. The adjustable trigger allows the shooter to tailor trigger pull characteristics, while the top-tang manual safety is easy to operate from either shoulder position. The receiver is drilled and tapped for mounting an optic, allowing the rifle to be configured to suit the intended range and application.

Basing my decision on...
Basing my decision on the reviews of existing owners, I ordered the Mossberg Patriot .450 Bushmaster with the walnut stock because I was interested in trying a new caliber for hunting.\r \r This rifle feels good, handles well, looks nice and has a great trigger out of the box. The only thing I don't particularly care for is that the magazine has a bit of a loose fit, but it's not a big deal.\r \r Last weekend I put a scope on it and got it sighted in. I was surprised at how pleasant this rifle was to shoot. I expected it to jump around more and kick harder than it does, but recoil, in my opinion, was comparable to a hot load in .308, maybe reaching 30.06 recoil levels once I have some 300 grain bullets loaded for it. Even then I think it will remain pleasant to shoot. Some other owners stated it kicks like a mule, but all those reviews were for the synthetic stock version, which is probably quite a bit lighter and more prone to delivering a harder kick.\r \r Additionally, the rifle was very consistent at 50 yards. I haven't gotten a chance to shoot beyond that distance but expect it to perform well at 100 yards, too.\r \r I'll likely purchase another Mossberg Patriot in another caliber at some point in the near future, maybe in .270 or .308.

For the past two...
For the past two years, since our state legalized straight-walled cartridge rifles, I have been looking to pick up a 450 Bushmaster. I had my eye set on the Ruger American Go Wild, which got great reviews. The Mossberg Patriot caught my eye because I prefer a wood stock as compared to a synthetic stock and the Patriot in walnut is a beautiful looking gun. There was a YouTube video that I watched that reviewed the Patriot as being a beautiful gun, that did not fire accurately. There was even a follow up video that was done that reaffirmed this assessment. This caused me to be very hesitant about purchasing the Patriot. After speaking with others and reading a lot of other reviews, I went ahead and bought the Patriot. I got a great price on the gun and went to the range yesterday. When I first shot the gun at 100 yards, it wasn't even hitting the paper so I was a little bit concerned. But after taking some time to adjust the scope, it was dead on! The gun fires great, is accurate and I am very pleased with it. I was shooting tight groups at 100 yards. I highly recommend this gun. It is a great gun for a great price. The only regret I have is that I did not by it two years ago when the price of guns was significantly cheaper!
