A: Erik, This will in part depend on the skill of the operator. This rifle/cartridge will be capable out to 1000 yards. The sweet spot for a 308 will be 600 to 750 yards. Barrel length plays less of a factor as an accurate shorter barrel can be just as accurate as a longer barrel. It has been noted that a 20 to 22 inch 308 barrel can be close (and in some cases higher) in velocity to a 24 to 26 inch barrel making the additional length irrelevant due to the powder completely burning in the shorter barrel. This can actually make the velocity lower due to more resistance/friction and no more oomph since the powder burn is complete by 22 inches for some loads.

A: Erik, All great choices. I would always go with the Remngton 700 with 5-R Bolt, I mean adjustable trigger, cold hammer forged barrel, all weather furniture, stainless. All the features every other brand has. And a great value.

A: Erik, I would have no issue with either of these excellent choices. The Tikka t3x varmint with ss hb or the Remington are so close that if blindfolded you would not be able to tell the difference. My choice would be the Remington due to accessory support with the Tikka being a close second.

A: all of them are great rifles I would choose the Remington just because I like the Remington 700 and the fact that they have made so many that parts will never be a issue if you brake something
