A: Mike, you are good-to-go already. 7.62X51 is a bit less powerful than .308, and the dimension of the cartridge are virtually the same. One can usually find some decent 7.62X51 surplus for better prices than .308, so it will help you in the wallet too. So go for it, and blast away!
