Description
Product Overview
The Ruger 77 Hawkeye is a traditional bolt-action rifle chambered in .338 Win Mag. This right-hand configuration combines a satin blue metal finish with an American walnut stock, a 24-inch barrel, and Ruger’s LC6 trigger. Its three-position safety provides convenient control while allowing the bolt to be operated with the safety engaged. The rifle uses a two-round internal magazine and accepts a third round in the chamber. Standard sights are included, and the drilled and tapped receiver allows installation of a compatible riflescope.

I didn't really want a .338 Mag, but I needed a new R77 to play with and it was $110.00 cheaper than the other Hawkeyes. The rifle shoots good groups with just about all factory and handloads I've tried in it. It prints different loads in quite different places, but isn't fussy about ammo. The ring holding on the claw extractor was way too tight and it took some polishing to fix. The inside of the magazine box was covered with surface rust. Not Cosmoline but rust. Disheartening on a factory new rifle. Over all it's a nice rifle for the price and I'll probably keep it for a long time. Recoil doesn't seem as severe as other .338 mags I've shot. Hawkeye stock design works.
