It is a good,...
It is a good, inexpensive hunting rifle. Pros: it is inexpensive, accurate, looks nice, is easy to clean, and has proven to be highly reliable. The light barrel is good for hunting. Cons: with the stock butt-pad, it kicks like a mule (I recently installed an aftermarket butt-pad that has made a big difference!). The light barrel heats up very quickly, and when it gets hot, accuracy suffers quite a bit. It's a good, inexpensive hunting rifle. Take your time sighting it in at the range. Do 3 shot groups, then let the barrel cool for 10 minutes or so, before putting another 3 shots down range. Repeat until sighted-in. Otherwise the barrel gets very hot, and your accuracy goes *way* down, and you won't be able to zero it in. If you take your time and let the barrel cool between groups, you can get really tight placements. And while hunting, you'll be shooting a cold barrel, not a hot one.

Bought this as a gift...
Bought this as a gift for a relative who has never owned a rifle before. Gave it a 3 because there was no users guide for the scope in the box. Purchased a Scoped Ruger American 22-250 a few months back and had no issues. Ruger should have put one in there. Now I have to grovel with Ruger to get one. Ugh. Pain. The rifle itself is a good knock around rifle and good choice for anyone new to shooting.
