I had read a lot about...
I had read a lot about this caliber and wanted to give it a try. I'm a big fan of the Ruger #1 and wanted one in a 1V but they all seem to be sold out for this year. So then I looked at this model as I wanted one for punching paper so it had to be accurate. This model fits that spec handily. It prefers the 120gr Hornady A-Max over the 140gr. Once I got it zeroed it shot 3-3shot groups at 100yds, all making one ragged hole. Got home and ordered some 120gr A-Max bullets. Had already got the dies and brass. Hornady is kind enough to put the recipe right on the ammo box(39gr Varget for the 120's). Looking forward to trying some of my own ammo. BTW, Buds price can't be beat. Looked at it 2 weeks after I got mine and the price had dropped $96, notified the "Buysafe" people and was promptly refunded the $96. Two thumbs up on the entire buying and product experience. A+++++

AWESOME TACK DRIVER!!!...
AWESOME TACK DRIVER!!! I purchased this rifle from Buds about 2 months ago and have been extremely happy with it. I also bought 8 boxes of Hornady ammo for it at the same time (4x120, 4x140). The rifle comes with a pair of Ruger Target Grey 1" rings that will work fine on anything up to a 50mm obj. Unfortunately, I was using a 30mm scope with a 56mm obj., so I couldn't use them. I picked up a set of Leupold rings (#51043) that worked perfectly for my situation. I mounted a Centerpoint CP832AORG 8-32x56 (laugh if you want, but the fact that it outperforms my friends' Nikons and Leupolds that cost 2~3 times more, works for me) on it and in 4 shots had it zeroed in @ 200 yards. The next 4 shots were less than an inch from my 4th shot (120 grain Hornady factory loads). I can live with a sub .5 MOA rifle on factory ammo for less than $900 including scope. Full floating 28" (not 26" like the other Ruger target models) SS target barrel w/ target crown, beautiful laminate wood stock w/ swivels for a sling or bipod, and it DOES HAVE a 2 stage, adjustable target trigger. Having never done any trigger adjustments before, I was able to adjust mine down to a safe 1 lb. pull by following directions I found on the internet ( Google "Ruger Model 77 V/T Trigger Adjustments"). After adjustment (for step 3, turn pull weight screw CC to reduce trigger pull), it had a nice clean release with no creep (2nd stage). Fit and finish are excellent with all major parts being SS (no plastic or aluminum). I don't know if this is ok or not (please remove if not) - but here is a recent review of the rifle: http://www.gunblast.com/Ruger-65Creedmoor.htm I am not sure why the author had such a difficult time adjusting the trigger. Even with a 4lb trigger, he was able to shoot nice groups. I picked up the Hornady custom grade die set for it and some day I will work up some handloads for even better accuracy. When I do that, I will probably use the Berger 130 or 140gr VLD bullets that have an even better BC than the A-Max's that Hornady uses. This will be easy since Hornady puts the "recipe" for the round on every box of ammo for it. I did a lot of research before buying this gun and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I just hope that the new 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge will become more popular with hunters and shooters so there will be continued support for it.
