Product Overview
Savage Arms and PROOF Research partnered to create a purpose-built 22-inch 110 UltraLite bolt action in 6.5 Creedmoor. Built around a factory blueprinted Savage 110 action, this rifle uses a carbon fiber wrapped stainless steel barrel and a melonite skeletonized receiver to help keep weight low for mountain hunting performance. The AccuStock with AccuFit offers adjustable length of pull and comb height, while the user-adjustable AccuTrigger helps deliver crisp, controlled shots.

Buds was great as...
Buds was great as usual getting the gun promptly to my FFL. The Rifle looks great and is very light as described. Fit and finish are beautiful. A little oil on the bolt, and the feed is smooth. The one issue I am having is with the scope mount threads, and I have heard similar concerns from others in the on-line forums. I am passing along what I have learned to save people time. The scope mount holes are supposed to be drilled and tapped for 8-40 screws. The tapped threads are in fact 40 TPI, but they are very tight; to the point that when test fitting, my Leopold 8-40 bolts would not thread in and started buggering up the bolt threads. I purchased a tap set in 8-40 to chase the receiver threads and now everything is fine. The rear three holes are through-holes so tapping and cleaning is easy. The front hole intersects with the barrel threads, so you cannot tap it through unless you want to remove and reset the headspace on your rifle. To avoid that, I chased the threads on the front hole with a bottoming tap. The 8-40 taps are readily available on line, but you are not likely to find this size at your local hardware store. Also, if your a savage person you probably already know this but the Savage mode 10 was the short action and the 110 USED TO BE the long action. Now Savage uses the 110 name, regardless of whether it is a short or long action caliber. So, when buying a one-piece scope mount, take note that the 110 Ultralite in 6.5 CM is a short action receiver (Scope mount manufacturers may list their short action mount as fitting a model 10, and the long action mounts for 110.) In my case, I am trying a Wheeler one-piece mount for a Savage Model 10. Holes line up great, but the Wheeler mount comes with 6-48 screws for the older style Savage receivers. I am using a Leupold 8-40 x .203" length screw in the front hole, and Badger Ordinance 8-40 x .265" length screws for the rear three holes, just so there are a few more threads engaged. The Wheeler mount holes need to be slightly enlarged as they are drilled for 6-48 screws, but the heads of the 8-40 screws fit in the counterbores without modification. The one-piece mount may limit your options for scope length, but I am using a Burris Signature 5x25 50mm scope which works perfectly with the Wheeler mount.\r
