My 2 star rating reflects everything that Buds does correctly and why I consistently choose them as my gun store of choice. I do however have to seriously ding Savage for what they sent me. I got my rifle to the range and the gentleman in the stall with me asked to go and put up a target. I hadnt even fired one round through mine and I went to eject the live round. It wouldnt eject from the action, it hung up on the extractor. I tried after the gentleman came back to see if it would eject other ammo types and it would not kick a live round out of the action. It would extract it from the chamber, but it would not kick it out of the action at all. It would also leave scratches on the projectile itself along the ogive area. I took it home and was going to disassemble the bolt and following the instructions as posted in their manual, I noticed some sort of thick sealant on the back of the bolt area where the allen key fits to start disassembly of the bolt. I tried to scrape some out but it was pretty hard. I dont know if it was some sort of sealant or something else that Savage put in that recess, and I cant fathom why they would put it there either. I reached out to Savage and they basically were as bad at customer service as many other people had told me they would be. Currently, my rifle is on its way back to the factory to be looked at. I found out from forum lurking online that feeding issues are fairly common with these rifles. Savage makes quality rifles, I have owned 2 others prior to this and I have confidence that they make good stuff. However, at this time, I am writing this review to others who are looking to purchase this particular rifle to tell them about the feeding and extracting issues and to lightly warn about their customer service being a pain to deal with. FWIW, I do feel like the majority of the rest of the rifle was very well made, just make sure to check this particular rifle out really well when you receive it.
