As usual the process...
As usual the process was easy and the rifle was shipped promptly. I got the stainless steel version because is stays in my truck. The bolt was a little rough to begin with but after polishing and cleaning it's much better now. Couldn't ask for a more accurate rifle 1/4 inch groups at 50 yards with CCI 17 gr. ammo. I definitely recommend it !

This rifle is just...
This rifle is just 'okay' for the price. The plastic stock looks good, but not very well made. It flexes and the barrel is not free floated. The trigger is very good. The rear action screw was frozen to the thread-in stud that attaches to the action. The stock can still be removed, but with much difficulty. I had to use vice-grips to grip the stud while breaking the action screw free, then used loc-tite to secure the stud to the action. Fortunately there was just enough shoulder exposed to grab a hold of it, or you'd have to grab the threads and destroy it. You can get new screws and posts, but what a pain. The bolt is pretty smooth, so happy about that. The scope mounts were not aligned. Level the front mount, and the rear mount is not level. Terrific. It wasn't off by much and a little tweaking to the mounts got everything aligned. Lastly, the rotary magazine just sucks. They are very hard to load, and need enough force that could and has dented the previous cartridge to try and get it to rotate. Savage said they'll send me another one. I had already purchased a couple extras and they're all like that, so I doubt what they're sending me will be any better as it's just a bad design. I've been using a small screwdriver to rotate the cylinder to get the next round loaded. Crazy. At the range, accuracy is so so, but I won't judge it yet until I take the Lead Sled to the range with a variety of ammo types/weights. I may have taken the claims of the 17 HMR being "tack drivers" a bit too seriously. I hope I'm wrong.

Arrived with some surface rust on the barrel, not a huge deal as I got it all off. Otherwise, it's a beautiful rifle and I can't wait to shoot it. Savage makes an excellent rifle.
