A detachable 10-round box magazine provides practical field capacity, and the oversized bolt handle allows positive operation with gloved or wet hands. The synthetic AccuStock, twin swivel studs, and Picatinny rail add support for sling, bipod, and optic configurations.

More accurate than I'm...
More accurate than I'm capable of shooting. The old Accustock is very solid, although I don't think Savage offers them in this configuration anymore. Fit and finish is well-executed. There are just a few things that could be better: 1)had to replace the extractor with an oversized aftermarket version, as the stock part would not adequately grip the .308 rim and would leave it sitting in the ejection port on top of the magazine. This was inexpensive and easy to do; 2)the magazine has a way of seeming like it is locked in place, only to work its way loose during shooting. Check it carefully; and 3)the 20MOA rail that come with the rifle does not have an "overhang" that grips the front of the ejection port. All of the recoil stress is transferred to the skinny scope mount screws, and I didn't have much confidence in these. I switched out to a Weaver picatinny rail which has the overhang feature, then epoxy bedded the mount. I don't have to worry about the screws shearing off during recoil now. I used this rifle to make a perfect shot on an antelope(pronghorn) at 365 yards with a 15 mph crosswind last season. Scope was the Athlon Cronus BTR.

Added a Fat Man Hex Brake, Harris Bipod, and a Nikon. Nothing else necessary except I may upgrade the trigger.

I had this for about a...
I had this for about a year. My only issue is I'm limited to 100 yards for now. My first outing was anti climactic. I did not like the stock. A bit to soft for my liking. I've since replaced the stock with a more rigid design and added a bipod. I'm happy to report that my trigger was factory set at 2.7lbs so I left it alone. With the stock change and bipod addition, some careful handloading I'm getting 3 shot dime size groups at 100 yards. The rifle can do better if I had my scope dialed up to a higher power. The 5R rifling seems to like 165-168 grain bullets. Overall its a bargain considering the price and the features. Definitely a good candidate for some long range shooting.
