Order with Bud's was...
Order with Bud's was very easy, as usual. The rifle, itself, looks great. The barrel has nice lands/grooves and looks excellent overall. Crown on barrel looks great, too. I also like how these newer Axis come tapped/threaded for the larger 8-40 screws, as the Axis is a relatively light rifle. Magazine fits and feeds fine. The bases that come on these rifles are now steel, however they have some leftover burrs that definitely need to be quickly filed off with a basic hand file. Also, the rings are junk but they always have been. The Leupold PRW2 steel rings fit these bases well, as some other bases I tried didn't. The only negative thing I can say was that Savage has now switched the 3-9X40 Banner to a Bushnell 4-12X40AO Sharpshooter, which was not a scope I'm interested in. To Savage's credit, a phone call to them fixed that situation. Also of note, the firing pin springs seem heavier than other Axis rifles I own. I've never had a misfire with any of my other Axis, but these new heavier springs won't hurt. Savage has really improved the Axis since the original version of the Edge/Axis came out. Great rifle!
