The foregrip section...
The foregrip section of the stock is a bit flexible because the barrel floats. It doesn't give you the feeling of holding a solid gun. When you lift the bolt to eject a shell you have to hold the gun tightly because it torques the gun. The spring is a bit tight so the initial action is not comfortable. The curvature of the handle section of the stock is a bit uncomfortable; it doesn't place your hands in a comfortable, trigger - squeezing position. It is a nice gun and I think it is built well for a $300 rifle. The flaws are easy to overlook for it's price.

We all know the Axis...
We all know the Axis is a entry level rifle; however, I have found, with a few easy modifications, you can make it an expectable shooter. I chose it primarily for the left handed option, which is hard to fine at a good price; and Savage is great at producing rifles for us South Paws. I can get 3/4 groups at 100 yards with this rifle so its far from being a boat anchor. The finish is ok and the action is good. If you are looking for a quality rifle at this price its a good choice and with Buds customer service and quick delivery you cant go wrong.

Pros: Adequate...
Pros: Adequate accuracy out to 200 yds with a 3-9 x 40 scope and factory ammo Even better accuracy with match-grade and varmint reloads Fun and inexpensive to shoot Southpaw friendly Easy to disassemble and clean Feels light and is easy to maneuver Aftermarket options are available for almost all components Cons: Magazine sometimes does not give positive clicking sound or feel when inserted into well - have to find the sweet spot and give it a firm press Trigger is not adjustable and has a heavy pull - takes time to get used to it Barrel gets real hot Finish of bolt handle looks cheap Trigger looks cheap Disassembly of bolt is not recommended in manual, therefore no clear instructions available unless you search online
