Very disappointing,...
Very disappointing, action is very stiff, difficulty with installing the bolt into the receiver even after reading and following the instructions in the manual and watching a couple of Youtube videos. The instruction manual cautions against use of force and to check for proper alignment when installing the bolt into the receiver. I was finally after many attempts of checking the alignment of the rear bolt section with the indicator mark on it up with the firing pin of the front section of the bolt, to get the bolt to slide into the receiver. It took force and felt like it was binding in the receiver. Attempting to remove the bolt so I could inspect for what was causing the binding, was useless, I could not get it out of the receiver. Pulling the trigger firmly while pulling the bolt rearward, the bolt stop was preventing it from being removed from the receiver. Savage Customer Service had me send it in for inspection/repair and they removed the bolt, checked the headspace and sent the rifle back to me. Same as before, very rough action, difficult to install and remove the bolt from the action, it takes force and and feels like it is binding. I decide it may wear in with repeated installation and removal of the bolt from the receiver, so I proceeded to put it through 100 cycles of installation and removal from the receiver and things got worse. Totally convinced there is a problem with this rifle I am now very disappointed with my purchase and resolved to the fact I have made a bad decision and purchase. Do not buy this rifle, in my opinion very poor design....!

All things considered,...
All things considered, I really like this rifle. For a budget rifle, it's a straight shooter. The trigger is effortless, I wish the triggers on all my firearms were this smooth. It is a bit heavy, especially with a scope mounted, so probably not the best choice for young shooters. The only real drawback I find with this rifle are the ammo prices and availability lol.

This is the third...
This is the third Savage rimfire rifle I have purchased from Buds. For inexpensive rifles they are very accurate. I put Nikon Prostaff II 3 x 9 scopes on all three and they were all easy to sightin and have been a blast to shoot at the range. I have the 22 magnum, 22LR, and the 17 HMR and have been pleasantly surprised at their accuracy. I have shot the 22lr up to 100 yards, the 22 mag to 150 yards, and the 17 HMR at 200. For the money along with some CCI or Federal ammo they have provided a lot of inexpensive fun. By the way, I ordered all three at different times, they were shipped a day or two after payment and they arrived at my FFL (Buds in Sevierville, TN) by noon the next day. Great service.
