I have had this rifle...
I have had this rifle for eight months now and have put six thousand rounds thru it. Fit and finish on this rifle is good. I had high hopes for its reliability also. I bought spare mags from Black Dog Machine and went to the range. I cleaned it and lubed it with the supplied lube from Sig. Every other round was a failure to feed. I went through five hundred rounds this way. I cleaned it at two hundred. Re lubed it with a reputable brand and cad the same problem for the next three hundred rounds. The mag well is on the large side and the magazines fit very loos with a large amount of front and back wobble. I contacted sig and sent it back for inspection. Turn around was fast but they told me they had no problems with it. I used six different brands of ammo, hollow point, solid nose, various velocities but nothing helped. Sig customer service told me it was operator error. Sig told me it was still my fault their gun does not function as intended. The problem is that the mag moves thus the bullet sometimes falls out of alignment with the feed ramp. The failure to feed issue is the bolt pushing the bullet into the bottom of the feed ramp and splitting the bullet thus making it unusable. I have mostly fixed the issue by applying a thin strip of the soft side of Velcro to the back side of my mags. This keeps the mags from moving around and keeps the bullet and feed ramp properly aligned. Side effect is that the mags do not drop free and take quite-a-bit of effort to pull free. Also ammo makes a difference. I have slightly less problems with round nose. CCI AR specific ammo works the best. Just not easy to find. Sig says the lower is within specs. Their tolerances are not exact and apparently vary from to tight of a mag well to way to loose. Buyer beware. Fit and finish are great on the rest of the gun.
