A: Some military chambers for 7.62x51 can run head space to 1.645 which will stretch a 308 win. case to the point that it may separate. Won't hurt you much, but not a good situation. Have the chamber checked and see if it is chambered short enough to run 308 safely. If so then you can shoot both. You can fire a 7.62 in it then black up the shoulder with a magic marker. Set your dial calipers to .400 and set them on the shoulder to leave a mark on both sides. Then measure the head 2 times to both marks and average your readings. If it measures 1.634-1.627 it is safe for 308.

A: David, no Sir. The Sig Sauer 716 Gen2 Patrol Rifle does not include a "Bayonet Lug".

A: David, no bayonet lug on the 716 Patrol. Additionally, the handguard covers the gas block and the barrel is too long for a bayonet to seat correctly had there been a lug. It does appear that thumbnail image is incorrect and is showing a 516 model.
