The Steyr AUG A3 M1 Short Rail is a gas-operated bullpup semi-automatic rifle built around a .223 Remington chamber (5.56mm NATO compatible) with a 16-inch chrome-lined bore and chamber. The Short Rail version keeps rail space forward for a minimal-weight setup, making it well suited for reflex optics and longer eye-relief scopes. A lateral push-through two-position safety and a synthetic trigger group round out the compact, tactical-oriented design.

This gun is awesome to...
This gun is awesome to bull-pup lovers. Everything runs soooo smooth and reliable. It is accurate with low recoil. Perfect modular design makes all parts easy to exchange and clean. Switching between left-handed and right-handed is simple as well - but you have to pay for the kit. A couple of ideas to share. The trigger pull is heavier than a standard AR. But it's not fair to say AUG's trigger is 'bad' since the mechanism of bull-pup rifles does require a longer overall action. If you buy an AUG, you need to be adaptive. The short rail is a little bit 'crowded' and too close to the slide. If your optics have more than one components or with sharp edges, it's better to wear gloves when operating the slide. There should be a cleaning kit come with the gun according to the user manual. Mine was missing but it's not a big deal. You can get one from Steyr for $20. The kit can be fitted to AUG's bottom stock - Very easy to carry together.

Wow what a rifle!...
Wow what a rifle! Trigger pull is super smooth. Extremely accurate, very lightweight, and compact. Only issue is the safety selector needs to be hit with a touch of sandpaper, those molded corners are SHARP, uncomfortable, and could easily cut your hand. Not a problem though as the part is plastic and will only take a second to remove the molding flash. This is my 3rd purchase from Buds and my 3rd perfect transaction. Couldn't be happier, thanks again Buds. Love this rifle!!
