I waited a long time...
I waited a long time for this rifle to come back in stock. Bud's emailed me, and I bought it a few minutes later. As usual, Bud's delivered. On with the review. Fit and Finish- 5 stars! There is not a nick, ding, misfit seam, blemish on the wood or steel anywhere. The sights did not even require adjusting, I am totally impressed. Function- 5 Stars! The loading gate is a bit stiff, but that is common in 92 actions. The threading on the magazine tube is wide and course, so only a handfull of turns and the rifle can be taken down. Running the lever is smoother than a Henry. I have shot Hornady 125gr XTP AmGunner, 125 gr Gold Dot, and Rem jacketed round nose 38spl out of the carbine. There was zero feeding issues with this ammo. However, my handloaded 158gr swc does not want to feed. I have other 357 lever actions and swc ammo doesnt feed in them either. The shape of the round just doesn't work well in these type of guns. Accuracy is very good. The optics rail is securely attached so a red dot or scope of your choice will really show what this carbine can do. The sights are aperature/fiber optic front. They are easy to pick up and work well for 'area' sighting. I bought this rifle for wilderness protection while dual-sport trailriding, so plugging a predator (2 or 4 legged) is right up this guy's alley.\r \r Overall- I am super happy with the Taylor's Alaskan made by Chiappa. The Itialian craftsmanship is apparent, the performance of the carbine is stellar and it is just gorgeous to look at as well.
