The Taylor 1886 take...
The Taylor 1886 take down 45-70 is a contradiction in quality. The checkering was perfect however the finish of the wood was poor and the forend cap was considerably larger than the wood. The case hardening looks great however some places on the frame and lever should have been finished better before they colored them. The frame sides were over polished making it look like a pillow with the screws set in. The locking lugs extend about .080 above the frame and are poorly chamfered. They should be flush, but the action is fairly smooth. The hammer looks like a scrap piece of blued unfinished steel. but the curved but plate should be removed and hung as a work of art. I am disappointed with the rifle considering it's price. I have yet to see what it can do at the range.
