Not a bad rifle, but...
Not a bad rifle, but not stellar either, I suppose you can't expect perfection for what you pay. Overall it's a very usable firearm, and shoots reliably if not spectacularly. Unfortunately it does have several downsides. 1) The trigger is AWFUL! My digital pull gauge recorded 7 lbs, and there's significant creep in the trigger. 2) The effort required to pull back the hammer is surprisingly high. It must have a heavy spring to be so hard to pull back. Tried to lighten the hammer & trigger pull a bit by pulling back the hammer & firing (it had a snap cap inside) over & over & over again for 1 hour and it seemed to make no difference. 3) The scope clarity is terrible. It's usable but noticeably foggy. If I had known how poor the scope was I would have just purchased the base model that came without scope. 4) The scope base/ring that it comes with is much to high. I have to break my solid cheek weld and lift my head up slightly to see through the scope. If CVA had made a single shot in 357 Mag, I would have bought that over this make & model. Overall its a usable, if rough rifle. It will shoot decent if you find the right weight/loadout for it. In my opinion it's biggest strength is that this rifle is a low cost way to make your very own 357 Maximum cartridge shooter. To the reader: If you don't know what the 357 Maximum cartridge is, Google it. It's quite the upgrade to 357 Magnum.

Only been to range...
Only been to range once to zero scope. I shot it at 50 and 75 yards. Accuracy is more than adequate for deer hunting. I plan to try it out on deer this coming weekend. Fit and finish is excellent. I would prefer a shorter length of pull especially when wearing cold weather gear but I'm going to make it work. I got the rifle/scope/custom case combo and find it to be a convenient option at an affordable price. I observed that the case was not adequately sewn on the barrel end and when carrying with the barrel down the barrel pushes out the zipper

This is a nice package...
This is a nice package deal. The rifle, scope and deluxe case are all of very good quality. The scope was already mounted and not sure if it was bore sighted or not by the factory, but was able to be on paper out of the box. The overall fit and finish of the rifle is very good. It operates smoothly, comes with a trigger extension so easy to cock with the scope on the rifle. Shot 38 spl and basically no felt recoil. Will use it for target shooting. I enjoy shooting single shot break action rifles. Tradition Firearms make an extensive line of muzzle loaders, many of which are break action. This breaks open just like the muzzle loaders and is similar in looks and quality. Very pleased with my purchase.
