I own and have owned...
I own and have owned many Weatherbys including 2 Mark IV`s, in .460, one from japan and one from USA. This gun is nowhere near as accurate as I`ve come to expect from Weatherby over the years. Thought the wood might be a bit nicer, though I know its a vanguard, not a Mark 5 Deluxe, so I can`t complain too much. Mounted a $530 Meopa(Same as Zeiss Conquest but better resolution) and it still won`t group well! Buying this gun makes me wish I never sold my old German Weatherby in .257 many years ago, but I`ll know better next time. I cleaned barrel well before putting 40 rnds through it, running a patch through every 3 shots, clean w/ solvent after 1st 20 rnds, and letting barrel cool each shot(Imaybe not long enough?) Since it IS a .257, my second-favorate Weatherby caliber after the .460, I`m taking to range 1 last time to give it a chance. Will wait a full. 3--4 minutes each shot, but if still not shooting well, I`ll keep the scope and try to sell the rifle. This particular purchase in NO way reflects anything negative on BUDS, who is always a pleasure to do business with.
