Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 Sporter .338 Win Mag Bolt Action Rifle

I received this rifle...

I received this rifle in March. Components were a bit hard to come by so I have only about 75 rounds through it just developing loads. The rifle and cartridge combination is superb. The wood on the rifle I have is very nice with overall reddish tone and black figuring. The matt metal finish looks elegant and the action was smooth out of the box. I've never had a 2-stage trigger before but I really like this one. Best factory trigger I've tried. My rifle with scope weighs about 9 lbs which is about ideal for a 338. The Weatherby style stock helps a lot with recoil from standing position though it would help if it had a softer pad. Not a big deal when hunting. Shooting it off a bench is another story. I use a slip-on Limbsaver pad shooting from the bench and it makes all the difference. Recently fired 15 rounds of 225 gr loads rater at 31 ftlbs recoil from sand bags using the slip on without any discomfort. Best group size was .722 center-to-center. The more I shoot this the more I like it.
