Received the Weatherby Vanguard S2 Sporter DBM rifle in a timely manner. This is a wood stocked rifle and has very nice wood, fit, finish and metal, as one would expect of Weatherby. Really nice trigger. I don't have a trigger gauge but it's noticeably lighter than an older Weatherby Vanguard, pre S2 model. I particularly like the DBM. The 3 position safety is a nice upgrade from my older Vanguard. Bolt operation is smooth. Ordered Talley bases/rings and mounted a Nikon scope. At the range, all shots were from a rest and initially, at 50 yds. First 2 shots were 3/4". I made a scope adjustment then fired 3 shots which were touching, center to center less than 1/2". I made another scope adjustment, moved to 100 yds and the next 3 shots were 7/8" center to center. I didn't take extraordinary pains to allow the barrel to cool between groups. Indeed, the S2 is a sub-moa rifle. What makes this more impressive is that Weatherby guarantees sub-moa with premium ammunition and I was using $18.00/bx Remington CoreLokt, 130gr PSP. I did try 2 brands of premium ammo and neither shot as well as the inexpensive stuff, though Federal Premium 150gr Sierra GameKing was a very close 1 1/8". That might close up after the barrel is fully broken in. Both are more than adequate for a .270 hunting rifle and I am well pleased.
