This gun turned out to be a good looking replica chambered for a more useful cartridge than the original. The only non-authentic element is the tang safety; however, the safety is unobtrusive for the most part. I realize that the current owners of the Winchester name cannot remove the safety since Miroku had it on the replicas they started making for Browning three decades ago. Fortunately, the 1873 replicas from Miroku never had the tang safety. If you want a new 1892 in 44 Magnum that says Winchester, then you'll have to put up with the safety. If you want an 1892 replica without the safety, you can go with the Italian guns but they won't say Winchester. I am quite pleased, as this is a really good lever gun with the venerable Winchester name roll marked on it.
