The Winchester 1885...
The Winchester 1885 Highwall looks and feels as though it's quality, mine is the high end model. The action is very gritty and not smooth. When I cock the hammer you can feel the parts aren't fitted smooth and would take along time so smooth out on their own. The trigger is heavy for a rifle. The blueing on the rifle is the best I've seen. The stock is lacking its not sanded and fitted as well as the cimmarons. I feel for $1500 Winchester could have put more time into this rifle making it awesome instead of just an ok rifle. I bought the Winchester because of the name thinking it was the best but I don't feel that it is.

This is a rifle that I have wanted for years. It is John Browning's first design that he sold to Winchester and went into production. It truly is a piece of history! It arrived in fine shape, and it is beautiful. The wood exceeded my expectations, and the fit and finish are superb. The price was right since it is not an AR pattern, a precision bolt gun or some other new style rifle. I'm not big on following the crowd, so I purchased a 38-55 and not a 45-70. I am very happy with the purchase.
