The Winchester Model 1892 Large Loop Carbine is a compact lever-action rifle chambered in .357 Mag. Its 20-inch round sporter barrel and 37.5-inch overall length make it quick to shoulder and maneuverable in heavy cover, around the ranch, or on the range. The large loop lever accommodates gloved hands, while the 10-round tubular magazine supports rapid follow-up shots. A straight-grip Grade I walnut stock with satin finish complements the blued brushed-polish metalwork. The carbine is equipped with a Marble Arms brass bead front sight, adjustable rear sight, rebounding hammer, and top tang manual safety.

I thought long and...
I thought long and hard about whether to purchase this rifle. Given the popularity of the firearm, the cost exceeds what is warranted by such an long produced model, but Bud's offered the lowest price I could find for a new rifle, so I finally gave into my desire. I've only taken it to the range once to break-in the barrel, but I found the action to be generally smooth, and it was more accurate than I expected. The ammunition was a little tough to load, as a few rounds would not insert fully without backing them out and shifting the cartridge around to find the perfect angle to feed into the magazine. That led to some rapid scratching of the blued finish, but nothing too severe. While I found the last part somewhat disappointing, I'm still pleased with my purchase.
