Wanted a weather proof...
Wanted a weather proof light weight rifle for hunting deer in Central/Western NYS. I also have a M-70 in 257 Roberts pre 64. That's a nice rifle but ammo is hard to come by and non too cheap. This 308 is very nice, I cleaned it up and within 3 shots was right on target using a L3Xi, 2.5-8 scope. The rifle arrived really quick and I took advantage of the lay a way program at Bud's. Have received a handgun and this rifle from Bud's and each has been a great experience. Highly recommend Bud's for your shooting needs.

This Winchester...
This Winchester Extreme Weather 308 is not only excellent, it's a beauty! I need to get a scope on it, but can't wait to get it to the range. Service with Bud's was great. They got it in record time.

I recently bought a...
I recently bought a Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather SS in .308 from Bud's. It's a humdinger. I'd heard that the current Model 70s made in Portugal are the best Model 70s Winchester has ever built. As a long-time Model 70 fan, and having owned a number of them, I'm inclined to agree. This one is noticeably better built than my 2003 New Haven .30-06. With my Leupold 2.5-8x scope, the new rifle weighs 7.6 pounds, and balances beautifully. The MOA trigger pulled a bit over 4 pounds when I got it; I adjusted that down to a shade over three, and it's now pretty nice. No creep, no overtravel. And the Bell & Carlson stock is very nicely done. I took the new rifle to the range this weekend and tested four factory .308 loads: 1) Hornady American Whitetail (150 gr. Hornady InterLock) 2) Federal Premium (150 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip) 3) Federal Premium (150 gr. Nosler Partition) 4) Nosler Trophy Grade (165 gr. Nosler AccuBond) I shot three-shot groups at 100 yards. The best groups I got with each of those four loads are as follows: Hornady 150 gr. InterLock = .63" Federal 150 gr. Ballistic Tip = .38" Federal 150 gr. Partition = .60" Nosler 165 gr. AccuBond = .98" By way of full disclosure, there were some other larger groups with all those loads, but I'm 53 and wear bifocals, so I'm confident I'm not consistently the man behind a rifle that I once was. But clearly when I do my part, this rifle is a very good one. And for whatever it's worth, the combined average of all groups shot this weekend with all loads at 100 yards is 1.18"! That's awesome out-of-the-box accuracy! So I can confidently say that this rifle now holds the title of the most accurate Big Game rifle I've ever owned, which makes me very, VERY happy! Buying from Bud's was a breeze, the price was great, and I couldn't be happier.
