The wide, flat-bottom fore-end supports a steady shooting position, while the free-floating fluted barrel improves stiffness and cooling. A recessed target crown helps protect the rifling, and the Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad helps reduce felt recoil. Winchester’s Pre-64-style Controlled Round Feed system uses a full-length claw extractor and receiver-machined feed lips for dependable cartridge control. The three-position safety permits safe handling, bolt operation, and firing positions. With appropriate optics, ammunition, and conditions, the rifle is designed to deliver 1 MOA accuracy.

Great rifle. The model 70 is a classic rifle with controlled round feed. Very accurate as always with 3/4" groups at 100 yards. The Winchester model 70 has been the American classic bolt action rifle for over 80 years.

Love this rifle....
Love this rifle. Always wanted a model 70 and this version is perfect for me. Managed to shoot a .75" 3 shot group (100yd) after sighting in the scope, which doesn't sound great until one considers my age, eyesight and shakiness. A good shooter will do better than that with this rifle. Feels light and the bolt is so smooth and easy to manipulate, the safety is a bit stiff but that is o.k. with me.
