The Winchester Model 94 Trails End Takedown is a .38-55 Winchester lever-action rifle built around John M. Browning’s classic takedown design. Its 20-inch barrel assembly separates quickly from the stocked receiver assembly, making the rifle easier to transport while preserving the handling and accuracy expected from the Model 94 platform. A Black Walnut stock, Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad, Marble Arms front sight, and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight provide a practical setup for hunting in dense brush. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts, and the included knurled hammer spur extension helps with hammer operation when an optic is installed.

Major disappointment....
Major disappointment. As soon as I removed the rifle from the bag in the factory sealed box, the front sight slid out of the dovetail and fell on the floor. After only working the action a dozen times, the blueing was already wearing off the right side of the hammer. How this rifle made it through quality control is anyone's guess. With a $1700 retail, this is pathetic at best. This is my first, and definitely last Japanese made Winchester

This rifle seems to be...
This rifle seems to be very high quality and built to a high degree of accuracy in machining processes. I found a close-out of 38-55 ammunition manufactured in Montana. I liked the idea the rifle could taken apart into two equal sized pieces and carried as a travel rifle for bear defense for fishing. \r \r I am 67 years old and my shooting accuracy with a pistol has deteriorated and this is my hand gun replacement project. The 38-55 appears to be slightly more powerful than a .44 magnum and has the bullet has a higher cross sectional density than the 44 magnum. Ammunition is still available for 38-55, as opposed to being unavailable for the 44 magnum rifle I also have. \r \r I intend to replace the rear buck horn sight with a Marble's bull's eye sight. With the angle eject feature and the pre-drilled for weaver scope mounts, there is also the option of adding a scope. \r \r Parts are available from Winchester for this Miroku mfg. rifle, as opposed to the unavailability of parts for Model 94's manufactured at New Haven, CN.\r \r Also I appreciate the flat butt plate. I would like to obtain a 38-55 with a longer barrel. Unfortunately the long barreled Miroku M94 rifle is equipped with a curved butt plate (amplifies instead of disperses recoil).\r \r I ordered a M94 Commemorative Chief Crazy Horse 38-55 rifle from another vendor, which arrived with a broken stock and bent receiver tang. I spent about 3 days documenting everything, with about 3 pages of emails, and had to file a claim with VISA to convince the competing vendor to issue a refund. \r \r No problem with Bud's Gun Shop, though, thanks for the excellent service..
