The Beretta 1301 Competition is a purpose-built semi-automatic shotgun designed for three-gun competition and fast-paced shooting. Its BLINK gas operating system enables rapid cycling, while the 24-inch Steelium cold hammer forged barrel balances swing speed with practical performance. The shotgun features a 3-inch chamber, 5+1 capacity, fiber optic front sight, drilled and tapped receiver, oversized controls, and an aggressively textured synthetic stock. Its matte black finish and shortened tactical stock provide a durable, maneuverable platform, and the package includes an Optima HP Improved Cylinder choke.

Absolutely love this...
Absolutely love this shotgun. It feeds and cycles flawlessly and the trigger is as good as some of my rifles. My only complaint is that because of the light weight it does have a good kick.

This model, Model: J131C14N is the new version from Beretta (2018 hence the "n" designation). It comes with many of the features to offer out-of-the-box improvements for 3-Gun and Knockdown Steel competition. What I was waiting for (and found) was an larger loading port for dual and quad loads (dual loading worked fine, will test quad-load at the range), an extended loading gate without the 1/2 moon thumb grabber, serial number moved out of the way in case I wanted to open up the port more, remediation of the "JAM" (accomplished through a $9.50 bolt release adapter via Beretta or Tau). Although Length of Pull is only 13 inches out-of-the-box it comes with spacers to extend it to 14+. Surprisingly, 13 LOP felt great for rapid mounting and I usually wear a 1 inch thick protective vest to shield against ricochet (this is a full size shotgun, not a child version). Other features which were included in the original version, over-sized charging handle (nice), fiber front (nice), aggressive checkering (nice), trigger (nice). Recoil was surprisingly mild for a light weight shotgun. I was shooting slugs at the indoor range and no pain next day. Suggested improvements: Score and channel the trigger guard to facilitate the lining up of the 2nd shell in dual&quad loading, add a Match Saver, include a pica tinny rail for Open Division (already drilled and tapped) , include the Tau anti-jammer as part of the shotgun, I will open up the loading port a bit more at some point and add the Aridus Stock Adapter for a Magpul Stock and the Aridus Zhukov handguard (features M-LOK slots which can be used to effectively mount lights, slings, MatchSaverZ shell holder, and other accessories). It works great out-of-the-box and is capable of customizing with 3rd party components.

Ordered this shotgun because of all the positive reviews on it as well as doing a lot of my own research. Price and shipping from Buds were great as usual and the shotgun arrived with the fit/finish being in excellent condition. I haven't shot it yet but it felt good in my hands with the length of pull being just right without the extra provided spacers. The trigger pull was light and just right for any quick follow up shots. Definetly feels like a winner and I am happy with my purchase. Would say that I would order from Bud's again but too late because I have purchased several firearms from them and always received top notch firearms and service.
