Just received the 686...
Just received the 686 28 ga. 26 inch. As usual Bud's service can't be beat. This Beretta is like my older 20 ga. except lighter and quicker pointing. I'll have some adjustments to make. The forearm is just rounded over, not Beretta's typical Schnable forend. I like this new one better. The wood is dense and straight grained; again better, less weight than high figure. it's a hunting gun. Not sure about the wood finish. Beretta says it's an oil finish. it looks pretty thin. Time will tell. My old 686 20 ga.has a tough high gloss that still looks like new. Love Beretta actions, sleek and low. Like the safety/barrel selector although this new one is stiff. Hoping it eases a bit with time. Beretta aren't cheap, but I think they are a good value. I'm pleased with this 28. If it performs like my 20, I got a bargain. Thought about cheaper OU, but I can afford this. Why take a chance. And similar priced OU just don't feel as good.
