Although I've enjoyed...
Although I've enjoyed hunting with this shotgun for the last 1.5 seasons the delicate finish has made it less than enjoyable at this point. My two biggest complaints with finish are the very thin oil application on the stock and the delicate "clear coat" on the case colored receiver. The first issue I had was spots on the stock formed where the thin layer of oil washed away from drops of water while hunting. The gun was wiped down and dried after the hunt but the spots remained. To get rid of the spots I ended up applying several coats of tru-oil on the nearly new shotgun. The second and biggest disappointment came with the shine of the case colored receiver wearing off and leaving a dull finish. I did end up contacting Dickinson about this (multiple times and with no success) and it was their opinion that I used something on the gun to remove the finish. I did end up using isopropyl alcohol once to remove some sap, other than that just gun oil. Maybe sunscreen leftover on my hands did it? Either way, no chemicals touched this receiver that aren't also used on my other shotguns. My other smaller complaints are the overly sticky release lever that hasn't gotten easier in a couple hundred rounds and scratches the safety leaves on top of the receiver. Those are small complaints but things I haven't experienced on other Turkish double guns I've owned at less than half the cost. I will say I enjoy shooting this shotgun and carrying it in the woods, unfortunately the issues I've had with the finish has soured my experience. In the world of double guns the price on these is very reasonable but you think the finish would standup like the less expensive double guns made in Turkey, unfortunately it doesn't.

This is one that...
This is one that surprised me in that it was as good as it was advertised. It doesn't need a rubber recoil pad as it is a 28 gauge. The checkered wood looks exceptional. It has a manual instead of automatic safety. I can't abide an auto safety as when I when I want it on safe I will put it there. The twin triggers give me instant barrel selection without requiring a procedure to change the barrel. The balance is as good as any regardless of price. It points well and shoots where it points, Both barrels have the same point of impact. I have purchased a number of shotguns and this was the first time I have received a pattern target with the gun. The case is great as it looks. It is not bird season yet but a number of rabbits have already fallen to it. I can recommend this gun without hesitation or reserve.
