A: the extreme is the 3.5 inch "super Magnum" while the supreme magnum is a 3 inch magnum that will function with both 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells. they are close in specs the 3.5 inch shell really came about due to the rules that made Steel shot mandatory for Duck hunting to be as effective steel had to be larger so the needed more room in the shotgun hull and made it 1/2 inch longer
