If you are looking for a side by side- I would highly recommend you stay away from this one. You would do better to spend more money and get well known gun manufacturer even if it was used. I say this because I saw it in a local gun store- but didnt buy it at that time. I called one week later and it was gone. I contacted several gun shops in my area- and no one had it in stock, and they did not expect it for several months. I put my name on the list at Buds and within two months I received a notice they were back in stock, so I immediately bought one and had it sent to the FFl near me. When I opened the box it came in - I could not believe how it looked- as the "walnut" was basically black - and the side by side barrel had several major scratches on it. I wasnt sure what to do with it - but I thought I should at least go ahead and pay the FFL dealer and figured it would be no problem to work with BUDS to return it. WOW WAS I EVER WRONG!!! I called Buds to tell them about the issues- and was told "Sorry - our Policy is that once you have the FFL transfer the gun- they cannot do anything for you. They even sent me the policy to me in a chat. I sent a note to BBB- to describe the issues again- and Buds just responded with their policy again. Too bad sucker! As for the stock being almost "black" they said "there are many variations in wood colors" ! (so no help there either) So I contacted Iver Johnson in Florida- and at first they were reluctant to help at all. However - I convinced them to let me at least send them pictures- and once they received the pictures - they paid for the shipment back to them. As SOON as they received the gun- they admitted they do NOT send guns out that are in that shape. He saw the walnut color- but mostly their concern was with the scratches and dirty barrel. Again they assured me they would not send a gun out in that condition and speculated on what could have happened. My guess and theirs was that the gun was used. Either way- after 4 weeks - they were able to send me another side by side. It was not as nice as the first one I saw in Person- and the wood looked nothing like the picture on Iver Johnson website- but it will work. (I had spray two more coats of Polyurethane-to give it some gloss) My main purpose of the review was to let others know - to use caution if you guy this IVER JOHNSON Side by Side Shotgun. I was EXTREMELY unhappy with the way it was handled by both BUDS and Iver Johnson.
