A: Rodney, yes a ported barrel would direct expended gasses up to reduce muzzle jump. This shotgun does have a "Ported" 24" Vent rib barrel with an extended XX-Full choke tube.

A: Rodney - this shotgun does not come with a ported barrel. It has a ventilated rib (along the top of the barrel) and a XXF choke tube in the barrel, in this picture. A ported barrel on a shotgun can slightly reduce felt recoil. They are used more so in skeet/trap shooting, where the shooters fire hundreds of rounds a day, than anything else. For general shotgun use in the field or on a range, a ported barrel offers little actual benefits.

In short, porting should help but it will certainly not eliminate recoil or muzzle climb especially when used with magnum loads. A: Yes it is a ported barrel while in theory a ported shotgun barrel should reduce recoil and muzzle rise I can tell you that they have become less common on trap and skeet fields as the advantages are unnoticeable but the disadvantage (noise) is a real concern I shot a ported skeet gun for a few years but NONE of my current shotguns are ported. I would strongly suggest wearing double hearing protection with a ported barrel
