A: ejector just like the old one and the same as the old New England firearms or H&R single shot

A: Alan - true ejector on this Stevens, versus the extractor on most ...

A: whats funny is that on the old classic quail side by sides the extractors were the most wanted as you shot the birds opened the gun removed the shells and put the empties in your vest. Just letting your empties fly was frowned on. Even today with my skeet gun I open the gun and catch my empties, they go in my vest and then either home to be reloaded or in the hull bin at the range. Why should someone else have to clean up after I shoot when with just a little effort I help keep the range clean and nice

A: Alan, this one pops them completely out Sir.

A: sorry it is not drilled and tapped The Savage Stevens 301 Single Shot shotgun is the perfect blend of value and function. Sometimes you just need a gun that can get the job done. A: John, it is not Drilled and Tapped but could be relatively with a good gun smith. Usually only the barrel needs to be sent in if not local : http://www.bosesguns.com/drilltap.html

A: Alec, this shotgun will work with slugs just fine Sir. It has a Removable Modified Choke and is Win Choke Compatible.

A: You could in theory use this but it would not be ideal, ideally you'd have a shotgun with a fully rifled, and either a rail, or drilled and tapped for an optic, this shotgun will require a high level of skill from you as a hunter, but will do its job if you do yours. Browning A-Bolt Shotgun Hunter, which is no longer in production is an ideal hunting shotgun if you could find one used or on an auction site, it'd make your job much easier. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/77749 Another great discontinued option https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/89067 Remington 870, or a winchester XSP would be good options too if you can find one will cost a little more but will likely yield more success

A: Alec, although you could shot slugs (replace modified choke w/improved cylinder), it is not the optimal choice for slugs. Is it even legal to use slugs with just a bead sight in your state? In my state you must use either a scope or adjustable iron sights to hunt with slugs, neither of which this gun has. I would look for something you can mount a scope on.

A: Dan, yes Sir. Slugs are no issue. I would suggest standard Foster Type Slugs. Cheers and stay safe! https://www.koshersurplus.com/product/federal-truball-rifled-slug-20-gauge-shotgun-ammo/?attribute_quantity=5+Round+Box&timestamp=1620661778

A: Dan, yes you can shoot slugs. As this is a smooth bore barrel, I would use rifled slugs.

A: Gary, all I can find is - Fits most 20 Gauge Break Action Shotguns - Does Not Fit: Hatfield 20 Gauge Break Action Shotguns.

A: Hi Gary and welcome. Yes, this model has a 3" Chamber and will fit fine. Cheers and stay safe!

A: Gary, this shotgun has a 3 inch chamber. If the adapters will fit or not I'm not sure. I'd recommend contacting chiappa at 937-835-5000 or you can email them at (info@chiappafirearms.com) for a definite answer. Sorry can't give a definite answer but hope this helps some.
