Front sight was found...
Front sight was found to be misaligned. This included the entire front sight assembly which is brazed on the barrel. To Mossberg's credit, their service department was prompt in responding and sent me a new barrel (after my old one was in the mail to them). The new barrel suffered from a similar misalignment, but to a lesser degree... probably not noticeable to anyone who wasn't looking for it. I figured this new barrel may be the best they can produce with their current manufacturing process, so I decided to keep it. Just a word of warning to anyone... the shotgun is otherwise nice but be on the lookout for the crooked from sight. This type of FO sight and wing sight base is also used on the new Mossberg 940 pro tactical SPX guns. So... be vigilant on those as well since they are certainly made with the same manufacturing process.
