Just got this...
Just got this "BullPump" 12 gauge yesterday......It arrived in good order. We got it unpacked and the sights installed....The rear sight was missing the nut and Allen screw that retains it to the pic.rail. No worries. I did contact Buds about this anomaly..... Checked over the action for function and all was fine..Great fit and finish..... Time to get this little beauty out to the range... Now.....We are a trap shooting family and we reload all of our ammo for 12 gauge. I keep a bucket of reloads that are fine to shoot, but may have a slight blemish in a crimp....This happens and I am very picky about what we take to the trap range..... So...the bucket of "Blems" got a job. A note here....The BullPump is not dependent on high power loads....2-3/4" loads of just about anything 12 gauge you find will function... We shot a broad selection of loads from very soft trap loads right up and including the heavy loads we use in the semi auto versions of the TBP12 and the TAR12 The Bullpump comes with an odd shaped fore grip to run the slide ....I did not care for the feel....Also included with the gun is a vertical type fore grip that fits right on the forward rail.....You can adjust the position of the fore grip some to suit your preference. I like the vertical grip.....Choose what makes you happy. The action (Slide) has a spring assist that helps get the action closed.....I have mixed emotions about this arrangement.. For perfect function.....Run the action....Full pull to eject the spent case and full forward motion to load the next round and lock the breach. If you try to let the spring do the job and slow down the return of the bolt you can cause issues....RUN THAT SLIDE HANDLE LIKE YA MEANT IT.....Life is good. Getting used to the Bullpump take a bit of time...The location of the controls are decent....These little guns are sort of like getting used to a new pair of boots.....A bit of break in time if you will for the owner...... The little sights that come with the gun are MEH...OK but a nice little Red or green Dot (Laser of you prefer ) will go right on the top rail. The ability to shoot any 12 ga ammo you get your hands on is a plus if this is to be a home defense rig. The very short overall length makes this gun a nice choice for CQB ...... We put a couple boxes (50 rounds) through the BULL PUMP We had a couple issues with feeding.....The issue was the operator, not the gun....AGAIN...RUN THAT SLIDE LIKE YOU MEANT IT.... No need to abuse the gun...Just run the slide like you would any regular slide action 12 gauge ...full back...full forward. We ran using the provided 5 round magazine as well as a 10 round (Tokarev) magazine. We also did about 15 rounds or so using the drum magazine.....The extra bulk and weight of the drum takes getting used to. If you are going to use the BULL PUMP as a home defense gun.....Go to the range....set up some courses of fire to allow you to get used to operating the "Pup" in a tight area.....WITH AN UNLOADED GUN....Practice at home moving around hallways in dim light conditions to get used to the characteristics and handling of the Bull Pup design. Overall.....5 stars...... I am not a fan of adding lights and all manner of gadgets on the rails.....Keep it simple...... The very affordable price tag is a big plus.....Buds customer service and fast shipping just make for a happy camper... Just a note here.....Always read the included owners manual.....Yeah....I know.....You know how to shoot a shotgun....Yeah....Read the book... I have been in and around the gun bizz since I was 12 yo...73 now.....I still grab any books included and go through them....Just good practice.. Enjoy the Bull Pump....Be safe and if you reload your ammo.....Be careful and use only proven data ...... I did not receive an incentive to write this review.....My personal opinions are what is printed.... So far I have purchased the TBP12...the TAR12 and now the BULL PUMP 12 No complaints
