Its been several years...
Its been several years since I purchased my Winchester SXP Long Beard shotgun and I'm happy to say the honeymoon isn't over. I wanted to buy a shotgun specifically for turkey hunting. It needed to be 12 gauge, fire 3" shells, pump action, with a pistol grip, turkey choke, and camouflage finish. I have three older Winchester shotguns that have always been reliable and figured that would be a good place to start my search. It didn't take long. This gun had every feature that I was looking for and the price was right. The pistol grip and choke tube are the two of the more important features this gun has. The grip really helps steady your shot and the turkey choke really does it job well. The SXP also comes with two combs. One is for use with the fiber optic sites and the other is used when you mount a scope or red dot site. The receiver is also drilled and tapped. This year I mounted a Picatinny rail and topped it with a Tru Glow, Tru-Brite, multi color site. I switched to the raised comb on the stock which made the sight alignment perfect. There was nothing wrong with the stock fiber optic sites on the SXP but there is something to be said about putting a green dot on a turkey's head knowing you made the right gun selection with no regrets.
