• Q: How well will the barrel and choke hold up using steel shot?

  james that is backwards the manufactures recommend #2 or smaller in older guns without choke tubes. Guns with chokes are larger and stronger at the end of the barrel than guns without chokes. It is fine with steel but stay away from the Full and extra full choke tubes From Remington "

  You can shoot steel shot through any Remington barrel made since 1950. In a fixed full choke, you can shoot up to a size #2 pellet.If you have the Rem Choke system, you may shoot any size steel through the Improved Cylinder and Modified choke tubes. The Full choke tube must state "For Steel or Lead" to be capable of handling steel shot."

  Michael, the current 13" length of pull can be increased by using available decelerator slip on recoil pads.   they are the old browning invector (not invector Plus) Winchester Win choke will also fit as well as the Mossberg chokes H & R 1871/N.E.F. 20 gauge: interchanges with Trulock’s Win-Brn-Moss style

• Q: Ive purchased h&r 1871 20 gauge youth model, im having trouble with 2 3/4 birdshot ejecting. Im pretty handy with my hands so ive looked on you tube for answers but im having trouble finding videos that are helpful. Im hoping someone has delt with this problem and has some ideas on how to approach fixing my issue. To me, it seems the inner parts arent strong enough to push the shell out consistently.
