Hi Natanael, this is not normal especially on a pump shotgun. I would not take the chance of voiding your warranty and contact H&R Customer Service for advice/resolution at Phone: (866) 776-9292.

Make sure you are firmly racking the slide especially if you are new to working a pump action. Also make sure the chamber is clean and has no protectant left over from shipping which can get sticky. I take my pumps and just work the action (sitting and watching tv NO AMMO hold/push the release ) until the get smooth and work easy if these do not help contact H&R at Phone: (866) 776-9292.
