Hi Kyle, Rifled shotgun barrels, like this, are meant to shoot sabot slugs exclusively. the energy and effective range (200+ yards )with a sabot slug are much greater that a conventional slug out of a smooth-bore barrel. Shooting bird shot or buckshot out a rifled barrel is not recommended as it will deform the pellets causing erratic, very wide patterns donuts pasterns. Stay safe & have a great day!

Hi Kyle and welcome. Shooting buckshot and birdshot out of a rifled barrel won't harm the barrel in the least. But… your shot patterns may not be the best, and you may get excessive leading in the rifling, which might hurt your accuracy when shooting slugs. Also, lead streaks can be very difficult to clean out of a barrel. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
