Patrick, The Henry rifles come with a "standard" cardboard box. The rifle is inside a plastic bag and includes an instruction manual. I believe that it is further packaged in an outer cardboard box I don't know for sure as the FFL will have to remove it to verify the rifle is indeed inside the factory box and to verify serial numbers, etc. I have purchased two Henry rifles (357mag/38 spl and a 22LR). I can't verify that an outer shipping box was used as the FFL presented the rifles to me with the factory cardboard box open so I could inspect the rifles prior to completing the paperwork. I purchased one of the rifles from Buds and the other from a different on-line source. I personally would pay the small fee Buds charges for shipping insurance. If you ever had to work with either of the major shippers for damages to items, its a nightmare. Having the insurance gives me peace of mind and I only have to deal with Buds. if there is an issue. As to loading, I believe all of Henry's rifles
